Magnetic effect or similar to attach object to player

![alt text][1]Hello beloved community I am making a game where the player steers a rocket through different levels without colliding. During the journey, the rocket can be upgraded with modules. One is a kind of magnetic module which attracts certain objects. And here comes my question: The goal is seen in the attached picture. The player should steer the rocket above the ball and the ball attaches itself then to the rocket or kinda gets positioned in a defined spot. The player has then to steer the ball through a parcour where it also can get lost, so detached from the player. If a certain spot is reached the ball will also get detached and it opens some doors etc. I tried different solutions like adding force to the ball if the player is in reach. But the ball then gets like crazy, so that doesn't work. I also tried the fixedjoint option, but that also doesn't work, or at least I could not get it working :D The goal is really that, if the player is in a certain distance to the ball it gets attracted and positions itself in a spot behind the rocket. Maybe important, the rocket hat a rotation which is controlled by the player. The ball should not be affected by the rotation of the rocket. Is this even possible? And does someone have an idea?
